Big Week

This week is a big week. I’ll be closing the sale of Iowa Outdoors which represents seven years of my “free time”. So what all am I doing this week to get ready? Let’s see…DNS changes for my personal domains, migrating a bunch of project specific stuff for Geeklog which is the open source software that runs Iowa Outdoors and this site. The Geeklog stuff include migrating CVS to the fine folks at pair.com who will be providing hosting to the Geeklog project free of charge (again, many thanks!), then I’m migrating the project website and then finally the mailing lists. Whew.

Aside from all that we did manage to complete the contract negotiations with the buyers and so Friday at 1pm I will officially no longer be the proprietor of Iowa Outdoors. I get hints of real emotion thinking about it but I don’t think it will really hit me until a few weeks after when I have time to really reflect on everything.

I won’t be disappearing from the online outdoors scene for long. I have plans to take on some new challenges after I take some time off to relax and enjoy this welcome change. Stay tuned for any new developments!
